Will of the River

Overtime, people learn from their mistakes. Some bounce back were they came from, others can't but others bounce back higher.
It is by will if you can jump over hurdles and get through it. If there's an opportunity, grab it.

From my personal experiences, I have a lot of problems in school. First of all is about "Peer Pressure". During my first year in high school, I was really problematic. Not because of grades or family, but about a friend of mine who was really bossy. I am a really nice girl who never dared to say "no" to anyone. But there were times when she goes overboard. It is the times when I wanted to give up or I even imagine myself strunngling her! >:D But with the help of my "true friends", I made her realize on what she was doing and finally she changed a bit in the following years. Sad to say but she just changed a bit, the "bossy" attitude still remains but it was kinda lessened. I would say that self-confidence and will helped me way out of this "slavery". Another is my grades, although it's only seldom when I get very low grades. I lack diligence lately and if I got the will to study then I would land on better grades.

"Family" - sometimes an addition to my problems . When I was young, there were only a few times when we have family fights. But recently, things are getting worse than ever. Arguments could be heard here and there. But every time I encounter these fights and disagreements, I would strongly think of the possible ways to end these. I would pray to God and ask for guidance and wisdom.

Last thing is about "Love". Surely I'm currently happy nowadays. But there come times that my relationship with him is like a roller coaster ride. We always have misunderstandings and the only solution is talking about it and being sincere. We almost had a break-up because of a "rumor". But I overcame it, knowing it was all fake. With my best friend's help, she help me during those hard times and I did what I could to keep holding on that time. Surely, enduring those times made my personality strong.

I already had a lot of problems encountered, some made me strong, some made me weak, some taught me lessons but some engraved a scar in me.

We can never control our life. But whatever challenges we have, it is by God's will we continue this earthen journey. Never give up I say. We should maintain faith in him in order to carry on with life. But it is by God that true faith is tested. If we rely on Him everything will be resolved.

Poverty

Year after year, people in our country suffer from poverty. The roads, houses, sewage system, health care are still continuously in poor control. What’s worse is the tremendous amount of garbage lying everywhere. We are considered in the third world because our incapacity of sustaining economic wellness to all civilians.

Laziness and Apathy play a big part on every civilian in the country. Our economy is going down because we don’t work up as a team and we don’t get up and unite ourselves for the betterment of everyone. “United we stand, divided we fall”, is a saying that will always be a saying.

The government plays a big role on how our economy will turn out. People are depending and hoping for a better lead. And we don’t want just promises. We hate and we are tired of politicians who seem to hear but don’t really listen to our plea. We need those who really care about our country. We need someone to really work it out. And we, as a people will play our part as well.

A lot of kids out there don’t have the privilege to study like me. And it’s disconcerting to see kids’ plea for money, get sick, and die silently on the streets. I believe that their parents should be responsible in taking care of them. These people are considered to be the poorest among the poor because they are just wandering and depending for some small hope of money freely given. And these kids running on the streets should be studying. These adults who are just sitting there and doing nothing on the streets should learn to apply a decent work for themselves. It’s for their own good. Basically, I’d just give them food that is available in my pockets. I couldn’t give them money because they’ll never learn to live for themselves. As I see it, there are a lot of things to be solved. Our economic depletion is obviously shown by the pathetic eyes on the children on the streets. We may not feel it but it is dramatically destroying our way of living. Our country is falling because we won’t stand up for ourselves. We just sit there and do nothing. We don’t care about our unfortunate fellowmen suffering. I hope that one day; we could do something to restore our economy. After all, it’s not just for us but for the country as well.

Peligro y Seguridad en Zamboanga

First of all the title means "Danger and Security in Zamboanga" in Spanish. Zamboanga has been known by other cities here in the Philippines to be "dangerous". But the things is, is it really just because of the Abu Sayaff that made them come up with a conclusion that its more dangerous to live here rather to stay in Manila?

Here in Zamboanga, security is not so tight. There are security guards checking our bags and pockets when we enter malls and department stores. But there are still people who gets pass through this. I know that it won't be convenient for people to have a tight security because of the time and other stuff. I usually hate to wait in a long line upon entering stores and I think it wouldn't be wise to keep the customers waiting. I think the security here in Zamboanga is just fine.

Zamboanga is known to be not a "safe" city. Since we're near Basilan, home of the MILFs and Abu Sayaffs, people has a misconception of the danger here. Although, we occasionally experience bombings and threats, its not always everyday we tend to experience those things. When I visit to other places and I mention that I came from Zamboanga people would react, "Wala bomba bomba doon? Diba hindi safe doon?". Hmp! I really hate that stupid line of theirs! I would usually think that, "Hello? Kung hindi safe doon everyday, sa tingin niyo nakatira pa rin ako sa Zambo? Bakit dito, hindi ba kayo nakakaranas ng mga bombings and other crimes?". I've come to a lot places here in the Philippines and in my opinion Manila is much more dangerous than Zamboanga. Why? Because you can hear a lot of news flashes and crimes that is reported in Manila and bombings and accidents happen there more frequently. Why do they think of this place is such a mess? I mean, in Manila there are a lot of crimes happening there and the fact is that they also experience bombings and other stuff. So why do they consider Zamboanga to be a more dangerous place?

Danger is really unexpected, since all cities experience this, why not make a fair treatment to all. Zamboanga is not that dangerous as you think, why not change your point of view?

Movies

I define movies as something I'm addicted to. It is the product of a person's imaginative insights about life. I really do love movies from action packed adventure to inspirational romances. I love all types of genres and it entertains me a lot. It gives me inspiration to be someone I cannot be or to be ambitious enough to be in world of fantasies and stuff. I even imagine myself in the movies and be someone! It is something that stimulates my senses and inspires me to do things I'm capable of. I'm thrilled to watch the latest movies with chips and ice tea. Although I don't watch in cinemas, I download the latest movies from the net that is like buying pirated cds with high quality.

I like foreign movies rather than Filipino movies. The special effects are a lot better, the storyline is mostly my type and action is at its best. I'm not fond of Filipino Movies because I find the romantic movies corny, the action scenes are not that impressive, suspense movies makes me laugh (especially of their "scary" characters) and the story is so predictive. Although Comedy and Drama is a little to my liking. Sorry to those who really likes local movies but its just my opinion.

So in general, I'm crazy about movies. My life is boring without it and it fills my mind full of imagination and inspiration.

Some of my favorite movies:
(although I have a lot more!)

animated movie- Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children

animated movie- Shrek 1 and 2

animated movie- Mulan

action - Charlie's Angels

comedy - Bruce Almighty

comedy - Meet the Fockers

romance - 50 First Dates

My Mother - My Source Of Strength And Inspiration

A picture of me and my mom!

Mother, someone who cared for us from the day we were born. The "homemaker" and the one who molds us to a better person. Someone who would defend and protect her child from anything. A source of strength and comfort during the hard days. A very special person, someone who accepts us even we do the wrong things. Everyone loves their mothers dearly and appreciates the love they've given to us. A mother doesn't think about herself first but their children as their priority.

My mom's name is Marivic C. Pamaran, a mother of three beautiful daughters. Responsible and very caring. My mom is a 46-year old who is fashionably updated. Very thrifty at times and I inherited this trait. A mother who is patient even with 3 stubborn kids. A loving mother and usually scolds us because of our laziness. :) A working mom who gives us time and everything we needed even she's tired from work. She's God fearing and my first mentor who taught me about God and a lot of things as I grow up.

My mom is very special to me. Not just she gave birth to me but given me a life full of wonderful teachings and made me a strong individual. Keeping my hopes high in every challenge, I usually find source of strength from her. Even my mom is tired from her work, she keeps the house orderly and still manages to have fun with us. My mom is a fashion adviser and she's got a good taste! Talkative at times and we love to chat and laugh together.

I'm proud that I have a mother like her. She's really special to me and my mom's great! A woman that makes me feel comfortable whenever I need it. She gives me joy and a source of inspiration.

Me? A Bookworm?

Ever since I was a kid, reading is really not my hobby. When I was on my learning age, I read books just because I needed to or it's about one of my favorite fairy tales. I usually look at the pictures first then turn the next page ignoring the story itself. I hate books that doesn't include pictures in it - it's way to boring for me. And I as I grew up, I still get bored to books.

I am generally not much of a bookworm. I would just look at the book, check the number of pages then leave it. I easily get bored and even just reading the first chapter would make me sleepy. I don't know why, but books makes me feel drowsy. It works like a sleeping pill to me!

There are certain things that I consider when choosing a book. One is the cover page. Yeah I know, don't judge the book by its cover but I can't stand it but ignore books with lame covers! Next is the title. It's my preference to read a book with a good title. I really don't care about the author maybe because I only know a few authors but I essentially look forward to the story instead. Another thing is how the words are written. Books such as the Twilight series make the readers like it because it got sensible lines that's striking for the readers. Its an element that made me like the book. And of course the story. I'm kinda interested with stories that are investigative like Nancy Drew, funny and it got a little romance in it. I'm looking for books that will keep me reading. Books that make me imagine that I'm into a different world, or something like the characters seem to be real living inside my imagination.

There are times that I really get interested in a book for such weird reason, that I can't put it down until I'm done. I would sulk in my room and start reading it and I would even forget to have my meal! I can even finish a 400 paged-book for only a day. I call it "an unusual illness", something that happens rarely.

So, If you ask me again if I'm a bookworm? Not quite. It just depends if I needed to read it or if it really interests me.
